It is reported that QSuper and Sunsuper are in talks over a possible merger of the two funds.  If it goes ahead this will see the emergence of a super giant with an estimated fund value of around $182b making it the biggest fund in Australia.

This potential merger is just one of a stream of recent mergers in the superannuation industry including that of Hostplus and Club Super as well as the pending merger between First State Super and Vic Super.

The merger of QSuper and Sunsuper would have an impact on over 2 million members and potentially its employees if there are jobs cuts which often accompany a merger of this sort.

We will publish further updates on the merger as they become available.
