In 2006, significant changes
were made to Part VII of the Family Law Act,
including provisions relating to the parenting applications between parents and
non-parents, such as grandparents and same-sex couples. On 1 March 2009, the new Commonwealth laws for the division of property for people in a defacto relationship came into effect.
We were recently contacted by a parent who pays arrears of Child Support
direct to the Child Support Agency under an agreed payment plan.
If you have amicably resolved a parenting dispute with your ex-partner,
it is recommended that you record your agreement as a Parenting Plan,
or as a Consent Order.
