Aged care industry peak body, Aged Care Queensland believes this state is facing a serious shortfall in residential aged care places, following a collapse in demand from aged care providers for new bed licences. An analysis of information released by the Department of Health and Ageing shows Queensland has received 813 fewer residential care places than it was promised in the 2009 Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR). ACQ believes this means there will not be enough residential accommodation beyond 2011.
