Is your workplace ready for the Fair Work Act?
The Fair Work Act 2009, which replaces the Workplace Relations Act 1996, has now been passed and will come into effect on 1 July 2009 and 1 January 2010. The Act will herald in substantial changes including an expanded set of minimum National Employment Standards, greater scope for unfair dismissal claims, new ‘good faith’ bargaining and right of entry rules, and the establishment of a new independent body, Fair Work Australia, which will replace the Australian Industrial Relations Commission. It is important that your workplace stays up-to-date and responsive to these changes.
