Australia’s
workplace relations system by the federal government’s Fair Work Act has a new
sea of regulation for parties to navigate. Fortunately, a few of the new
responsibilities it creates are relatively simple to meet. One of the simplest
is the Fair Work Information Statement.
All new employees must be given a copy of the Fair Work Information Statement when
they start work. The Statement can be handed to them, or given by email, post
or fax. A copy of the statement is at http://www.fairwork.gov.au/Pay-leave-and-conditions/Conditions-of-employment/Documents/Fair-Work-Information-Statement.pdf
The statement contains basic information about
workplace rights and sources of information for employees.
The obligation to supply a copy of the Statement
applies to all employers and all employees in the national workplace relations
system.
