Driving over 75 years of age
Once we reach 75 years of age, in order to have a drivers licence,
we must also hold a medical certificate stating that we are fit to drive and we
have to carry that certificate with us whenever we drive.
Even if our drivers
licence has an unexpired period remaining, we still have to comply with this
requirement on hitting that 75th birthday. Our doctor can make the certificate for whatever period he or she
thinks appropriate but at the end of that period, we need to get a fresh
certificate.
To ensure that there is no risk to our insurance indemnification (and
to avoid any costly fines) we need that proof that we are still fit to take to
the roads.
