David
manages the firm's Workplace Law section. He joined Carne Reidy Herd in
2004, bringing with him over a decade of experience as a senior Commonwealth
public servant advising on industrial relations law and policy.
He has honours degrees from the University
of Sydney and the Australian National
University and has taught industrial
relations at the University
of Canberra. He was
awarded a University Medal for Law from the ANU.
David provides advice and representation across all areas of employment and
industrial law, and is one of Queensland's
handful of Accredited Specialists in Workplace Relations Law. He
practices in federal and state courts, industrial commissions and
discrimination tribunals, appearing for individual
employees and unions, senior executives, small businesses and community
organisations.
He
provides practical advice and representation on employment contracts, unfair
dismissal, adverse action and discrimination claims, workplace disputes and
enterprise bargaining.David
has a special interest in providing advice and advocacy services for the Aged Care
sector and his expert knowledge of the implications of the Fair Work Act on the
sector is well recognised.
David is a member of the Queensland Law Society's Industrial Law Committee and
of the Australian Labour Law Association.
