Claire Yeo, Lawyer
Claire has a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Queensland
University of Technology, a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Griffith University and a Bachelor of Arts and a
Bachelor of Commerce (Hons).
After graduating from QUT, Claire was appointed Associate to
the Honourable Justice Atkinson of the Supreme Court of Queensland. When her
term as Associate to Justice Atkinson finished she joined Carne Reidy Herd.
Claire previously worked at the National Native Title
Tribunal and the Carpentaria Land Council in Mount Isa.
At the Land Council she was involved in taking instructions from and
negotiating agreements on behalf of various native title groups with mining
companies, individuals, and other organisations wishing to conduct exploration
and other activities including fishing on traditional land of native title
groups.
Since joining Carne Reidy Herd, Claire has worked in the
areas of Employment Law, Discrimination Law (including sexual harassment),
Criminal Law and Civil Litigation. She has appeared in various courts,
tribunals and commissions representing clients in a wide range of matters.
Claire’s Employment Law practice includes discrimination
law, sexual harassment, unfair dismissals and termination of employment, labour
hire, award arrangements, individual flexibility agreements, grievances,
performance management, disciplinary processes and other general contractual
matters including restraint of trade.
Claire has experience in representing clients in civil
litigation including defamation, and contractual disputes, both employment and
non employment related.
Claire’s criminal practice includes representing clients in
the Magistrates Court
and the District Court in matters including assault, burglary, child
exploitation material, and includes both pleas of guilty and trials.
